LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Louisville Metro Police are looking for man who tried to abduct a boy over the weekend. Police say 6th division officers responded to the 7000 block of Bronner Circle on an attempted kidnapping Sunday evening.

Police say shortly before 7 p.m. an 11-year-old boy was taking the trash out to a dumpster in the apartment complex when a man grabbed him and forced him into his vehicle.

LMPD officials say the boy was able to get out of the car in the 4400 block of Bardstown Rd. and run to safety. The boy was not injured.

The LMPD Crimes Against Children Unit is investigating.

"It was a very scary situation," said LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell. "Our CACU detectives did interview the child and believe it was a true abduction. Fortunately for the child, he was thinking quickly and was able to get out of the vehicle - the vehicle was stopped - and saw an opportunity to escape, and he did."

The victim described the man as a bi-racial male in his late 20s, approximately 5'8" wearing wearing a red ball cap, a white long sleeved shirt, and blue jeans. The only description of the vehicle was that it was a black 4-door vehicle.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the anonymous LMPD crime tipline at 574-LMPD.
