ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (WAVE) - A lawsuit has been filed in the case of a man killed during a high speed chase.
Police said 24-year-old Brandon Lee Jessie was driving a stolen car and fled from police on June 6 in Hardin County. Jessie slammed into the car that 36-year-old James Fentress Junior was driving. Fentress died at the scene and now his family is filing suit.
The suit names Jessie as well as the law enforcement agencies involved in the chase, and claims police acted recklessly. The Fentress family believes police should have stopped at the intersection where the accident occurred in order to avoid a collision. The suit asks for damages for pain and suffering, loss of wages, and for punitive damages.
The suit also requests a jury trial be held. Jessie faces murder, assault and numerous other charges in the crash.
