SHELBYVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Shelbyville man is doing something drastic to raise money for a young girl who died in a fire this past weekend in Shelby County.

Early morning, on Sunday December 19, the Brown family home burnt down to the ground, 6-year-old Elizabeth didn't make it out of the house.

The rest of the family escaped the blaze safely, but the fire claimed all of the families possessions, including gifts for their 3-year-olds upcoming birthday.

In the Christmas spirit,Tim Arvin who has never met the family heard their story, and decided to raise money for the tragedy struck family.

He has set a goal of $4,000 in donations for the family in need ,and if that is met,on Christmas Eve, he is going to run 4 miles through Shelbyville, KY in a Speedo.

Tim Arvin's company has also pledged to match the donation.

You can donate money at any Fifth-Third Bank branch, or the Citizen Union Bank main office in Shelbyville under the Justin and Tonya Brown Fund.
