Teen shot while attending funeral in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (AP) - Indianapolis police say a 16-year-old boy

was shot and wounded at a funeral for a 20-year-old man who was

shot to death nine days earlier.

Police say 600 to 700 people were at First Samuel Missionary

Baptist Church on Saturday for the funeral of Estern Howard. He was

found shot to death Dec. 30 on the city's west side.

Police say fighting broke out at the funeral, people drew guns,

and the dispute spilled out onto a nearby street, where a

16-year-old was wounded.

Police say they're questioning a suspect.

Sandra Pennington tells The Indianapolis Star she took her two

sons to the funeral and says she saw four young males pull out


She says the minister appealed for calm, and the choir kept
