More than 600 listed as "missing" in Kentucky

LOUISVILLE, KY. (AP) - Kentucky has more than 600 people listed

as missing, part of more than 98,000 across the country bearing

that classification with law enforcement.

And, Kentucky State Police list 162 cold cases of either missing

or murdered people on the web site.

Finding a missing person is difficult for a variety of reasons.

Sometimes people choose to go missing. In other cases, bodies

cannot be identified or just aren't discovered.

Despite the obstacles, some family members persist in searching

for their lost loved one. Nancy Austin has no recollection of her

mother, Georgia Darlene Nolan, who disappeared in November 1976

when Austin was an infant.

Austin has spent the last decade looking for her mom and has

refused to end the quest, despite finding no traces of her.
