SHEPHERDSVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Police have released more details about what happened in the hours before a Bullitt County attorney disappeared one week ago. Shepherdsville Police say Chad Smith and his wife Lesley fought on the night of Jan. 10 at their home.
Investigators say the couple then went to the Waffle House where police say Chad Smith hit a car and then took off, leaving Lesley Smith behind. Lesley Smith called police and filed an assault report. Police say Lesley Smith stayed at a motel that night and asked officers to be with her when she went home the next day.
"Officers responded to the house. At which time her husband and the vehicle were not there. She tells officers it's ok for them to leave. The officers then left their residence," said Sgt. Troy Armstrong of the Shepherdsville Police.
On Jan. 13, police say Lesley Smith filed a missing persons report. The next day, Chad Smith's car was found in Louisville by Metro Police.
A police report says Chad Smith left his wallet and cell phone at his home. It also says he called Lesley Smith telling her he was injured and could not put weight on his leg.
At this time, Shepherdsville Police don't suspect foul play. If you have any information on Chad Smith's location, call police.
