ASHLEY, IN (AP) - State economic officials say Family Dollar Stores Inc. plans to build a $70 million distribution center in northeast Indiana that could create up to 350 new jobs.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation says the discount store operator plans to break ground on the facility this spring in Ashley, about 30 miles north of Fort Wayne. The center is the company's 10th nationwide and will serve its Midwestern stores. The state said in a news release that Family Dollar plans to begin hiring early next year.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Family Dollar up to $2.1 million in performance-based tax credits and up to $200,000 in training grants.
Family Dollar has more than 6,800 stores in 44 states and more than 45,000 employees.
