LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Snow is falling in Louisville and surrounding counties, so the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) road crews are out in full force treating interstates and other major roadways.
With heavier bands of snow forecasted this afternoon, crews will be salting and plowing highways throughout the day and into the evening hours. To view the priority network for snow removal, go to http://transportation.ky.gov/Maintenance/Snow_Ice.htm and select a county.
District 5 personnel have the responsibility for clearing more than 2,400 miles of state-maintained highways in the counties of Bullitt, Franklin, Henry, Jefferson, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer and Trimble. 166 state and contract trucks are being utilized to treat roadways in these eight counties. 78 of these trucks are concentrated on the interstates in Jefferson County.
