The Family Foundation files appeal over instant racing

Posted by Amy Kelch - email

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Family Foundation is saying "hold your horses," when it comes to instant racing in Kentucky.

In December, Franklin County Circuit Court Judge Thomas Wingate ruled in favor of the expanded gaming plan for Kentucky race tracks. Instant racing allows people to gamble on previously run horse races.

On January 20, The Family Foundation, an advocacy group, filed an appeal arguing that instant racing is no different from slot machines, which is prohibited under state law.

Kentucky lawmakers still have to approve instant racing before it is implemented.
