LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Jefferson County Teachers Association is recommending that its president and vice president serve on the committee to select the next superintendent for the Jefferson County Public Schools.

In Nov. 2010, the school board voted not to renew Dr. Sheldon Berman's contract when it expires in June 2011.

In a letter mailed to JCTA members, executive director Deeann Flaherty recommends JCTA members vote for President Brent McKim and vice president Royce Whitman for the posts.

McKim tells WAVE 3 that both he and Whitman are teachers.

JCTA members can select from nine people nominated for the committee. The vote is Tuesday, Feb. 1.
