LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - An unsolved murder case dating back two decades has been solved after the only suspect accepted a plea deal. Forty-eight-year-old David Hawkins pleaded guilty to first degree manslaughter in court Friday.
Under the terms of the plea agreement, Hawkins will be sentenced to 15 years with no chance for parole.
Hawkins beat and strangled Karen Goodman to death at her home in April of 1991.
Homicide detectives used DNA evidence and new witness interviews to link Hawkins to Goodman's murder.
