LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A former Louisville Metro Housing Director and her mother have turned down plea deals in their felony theft case.
Kimberly Bunton, the former director of Metro Housing, and mother, Vickie Smallwood, could have avoided jail time if they accepted the deal.
Prosecutors say Bunton helped her mother receive money from the department illegally.
They face identical counts of felony theft related to alleged improper aid Smallwood received while Bunton led the department.
Ryan Vantrease, Bunton's lawyer, says he expects the case to go to trial and says his client has done nothing wrong.
