LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Even lions have to get regular check-ups at the Louisville Zoo.
Veterinarians had to take extra precautions with the 13-year-old female lion, named Kariba, making sure she was properly sedated so that doctors could safely examine her.
Dr. Roy Burns, who conducted the exam, says the exams are just preventative to try to catch problems before they become significant.
Kariba shares living space with her twin sister, Amanda, and an 11-year-old male lion named Kenya.
