LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Jefferson County School Board has decided to wait until Feb. 14 to vote on hiring a firm to help them search for a new superintendent.

During a Feb. 9 meeting at the VanHoose Education Center, the school board listened to presentations from three firms - Greenwood/Asher & Associates out of Florida, McPherson and Jacobson located in Nebraska, and Ray and Associates from Iowa. The school board fired questions at each team, including asking questions about their success rate, confidentiality of the candidates, diversity within the pool of candidates, and transparency.

Board member Stephen Imhoff said they will be coming up with criteria of what they are looking for in Dr. Sheldon Berman's replacement.

"A lot of them {are} kinda obvious, {including} raising {the} achievement, close gaps, and I think {for} all of us, is to maintain diversity in our schools," Imhoff said.

In Nov. 2010, the board voted not to renew Berman's contract, which expires in June 2011.
