LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A crossing guard was struck by a vehicle just after 7 a.m. Thursday at Columbine and Greenwood Road near PRP High School.

According to Dwight Mitchell, a spokesman for the Louisville Metro Police Department, a female guard was exiting her vehicle and was about to begin directing traffic in front of the school. That's when she was clipped by a car leaving the parking lot.

The guard, an LMPD employee, was taken to Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital for observation. Her injuries are believed to be minor.

No charges are expected to be filed against the driver.
