LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Some JCPS music students received a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The National Symphony Orchestra paid a visit to five local schools Feb. 18 with two goals in mind: teaching and playing with music students.
The students afterward said the visit should be an honor for the entire city of Louisville. Tyler Taylor, a student who witnessed the event firsthand, appreciated the Orchestra's arrival.
"The National Symphony Orchestra, they consider themselves to be the orchestra of America, so for them to be here is an honor because they're acknowledging us as a significant musical community," said Taylor.
The Orchestra's visit is part of a program through the Kentucky Arts Council.
