LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Dozens of people went to Frankfort on Feb. 24 with the message that convicted felons who have served their time should be able to vote again.

The House passed a bill 77-21 that would automatically restore voting rights to those who have served their sentences. But that bill is stuck in a Senate committee that has never given it a hearing.

"It makes me feel bad," said Michal Tyson, a convicted felon, "because I paid my debt to society and I feel that at least after some time after being released you should be able to vote again."

Tyson and others can apply to vote again, but Kentucky and Virginia are the only two states that don't automatically give back the right to vote.
