LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A crossing guard was taken to the hospital to be checked out for minor injuries after being struck by a vehicle at Westport Road near Hubbards Lane in front of Walden School early Thursday.
According to St. Matthews Police, the male crossing guard was struck just before 8 a.m. while in the roadway trying to direct traffic. Police say the guard was hit by an elderly driver who was driving slowly but did not come to a complete stop.
Police say the guard was up and walking around after being struck, but was taken to Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital with a leg injury.
His injuries were described as minor.
Police say they do not expect to file charges against the driver.
