Domestic dispute causes lockdown at Harrison County Schools

CORYDON, IN (WAVE) - The South Harrison County School System has confirmed it was on lockdown for several hours Thursday after receiving a call from the Sheriff's Department concerning a domestic situation at a home about a half-mile from the school.

According to Carol Wallace, a spokeswoman for the school system, the Corydon campus - located at 375 Country Club Road Southeast - has four buildings with students from preschoolers through 12th grade, including Corydon Central High School.

Besides the fact that all the doors were locked, school system leaders say it was business as usual at the schools. As a precautionary measure, school employees and students were asked to keep away from windows.

We sent a crew to the area and learned that the suspect in the domestic situation was arrested around noon. It wasn't clear if he had a weapon, but we're told he was in violation of a restraining order after coming too close to a home.
