LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - U.S. Marshals and Kentucky State Police arrested 15 sex offenders in a special operation.

The sweep, called Operation Sour Mash, included local law enforcement across eastern Kentucky. Officers checked up on 197 registered sex offenders and made arrests on charges ranging from drug and gun possession to parole violations.

"Our children have the right," said U.S. Marshal Loren Carl, "to play in a safe home, safe neighborhood, free of predators. It is our duty, and I emphasize duty, to protect our children's future."

Investigators said they are still looking for four men who aren't compliant with Kentucky's sex offender registry.
