LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Councilwoman Judith Green and Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin went back and forth on the gospel station WLOU.
Shanklin said Green was questioning her grandson working for her in an effort to take the spotlight off Green's own ethical questions. Shanklin had been cleared by an ethic's commission opinion to hire her grandson. She said she is upset Green felt the need to try and include her in her troubles.
"I felt like she was implying that I was doing something wrong, something illegal," Shanklin said. "A nd I knew that wasn't true. As I listened, I said 'we need to get the record straight.' Sometimes you have to stand up for what's right. I stood up and I knew I might take the hit from some people."
