HEBRON, KY (AP) - Republican gubernatorial candidate Bobbie Holsclaw has skipped a key GOP get-together in northern Kentucky to attend a campaign fundraiser in Washington.
Two other Republican candidates, state Senate President David Williams and Louisville businessman Phil Moffett, spent Saturday evening working the crowd at an annual dinner in Hebron that drew more than 200 party activists from along the state's northern border.
Republican voters will choose one of the three candidates in the May 17 primary to face Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear, who is unopposed in his party's primary.
Independent candidate Gatewood Galbraith is also running in the fall.
The Republicans have been laboring to raise campaign cash. The fundraising leader, Williams, recently surpassed $1 million, far short of the $3.1 million Beshear had banked as of last December.
