LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Lexington Mayor Jim Gray says he is appointing a 40-plus-member panel to study the future of Rupp Arena, the home of the University of Kentucky men's basketball team.
Gray was joined Monday at a news conference at Rupp with UK President Lee Todd.
The mayor said the first step to turning Rupp in to a state-of-the-art arena will be to examine renovation possibilities.
The University of Louisville men's basketball team this fall began playing in a new arena that has attracted thousands of fans as well as big-name entertainment acts.
In 1999, Rupp Arena added 54 luxury suites, 1,004 club seats, new restaurants and improved concourses.
