LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Metro police are investigating what led to a man being severely beaten on a downtown Louisville street. It happened at First and Market just after 9 p.m. April 7, but police say it actually started at Waterfront Park.
Officers say they broke up a group of several hundred teens gathered at Waterfront Park. We talked with a group of friends who say they saw the trouble and left. Mark Davis said he saw a guy who flashed his gun and a young woman get jumped. Davis called the scene, "just pandemonium."
Several teens at the Waterfront were cited for various charges and turned over to their parents.
LMPD says the rowdy group of teens headed south from the waterfront and beat up a man near the White Castle at First and Market. That man was taken to University Hospital with, what police say, are non-life threatening injuries.
Officers say they lost the teen suspects in the crowd leaving that was leaving from Louisville Slugger Field after the Bats season opener. Late Thursday, Metro police were continuing to monitor the situation.
