LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – If you are a University of Louisville student, or the parent of one, get ready to shell out more money.

Dr. James Ramsey, the UofL president, says it's a stark reality that public college costs have shifted from taxpayers to students. Ramsey says he will propose a tuition increase of six percent for the next academic year.

If approved by the university board and the Council on Postsecondary Education, tuition for undergrad students would be $8,930 and that amount does not include housing, meals or books.

If passed, this will be the 11th straight year of tuition increases for UofL students.
