LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A crash on the information super-highway may have left a few academic casualties at the University of Louisville.

All students on the campus use Blackboard, an internet site where students post test, homework, papers, and any material related to class. As many students submitted their final test and papers for the semester, the network did not work.

"The timing is not good, but technology is great but it's not perfect and so we are doing everything in our power to try to help our faculty and students," said Gale Rhodes, the university's associate provost.

A message was posted to alert students that any data, files, documents, papers or test added to Blackboard between 6 p.m. April 14 and April 15 will not be in the system and will need to be resubmitted, re-added or re-linked. For some, that meant retaking a final test or resubmitting a paper.

"My teacher was pretty understanding about it," said Marcus Goodwin, a UofL student, "so she said get it in as soon as possible."

For students who had to start from the beginning, a quote read, "We deeply regret the substantial negative impact this issue has had on our users."
