2-year-old boy struck by car after church function

WARSAW, KY. (AP) - A 2-year-old boy has been hospitalized in intensive care after being struck by a car after a church function.

Kentucky State Police say Brandon Perez of Warsaw ran into the roadway of U.S. 42 near Warsaw at 10:07 p.m. EDT. A car driven by 50-year-old Barbara Lewis of Warsaw struck Perez.

Police say rainy nighttime conditions, combined with Perez's dark clothing, appear to have contributed to the collision.

Troopers say a preliminary investigation indicates the collision was accidental and Lewis will not face criminal charges.

Perez remained in the University of Cincinnati Children's hospital Sunday in intensive care.
