Based on the time the first tips started coming in, some customers have been without power since at least 7 p.m. eastern time.

According to one news tip from Whitney in Milton County, a recorded message reached when dialing Shelby Energy in Shelby County stated the service interruption is due to a transmission failure at the Campbellsburg, Bedford and Milton substations.

A spokeswoman with Shelby Energy confirmed transmission line failure in eastern Kentucky. She says crews were working to re-route power, and hoped to have everyone's power restored by midnight.
