LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A transmission failure line failure in eastern Kentucky caused thousands of people in Kentucky to lose power Wednesday evening.
LG&E and KU's website indicated thousands of customers were without electricity Wednesday night. A power outage map on site indicated multiple outages across the state affecting thousands of customers.
Customers without power in Trimble and surrounding areas sent us mobile news tips about the power outage, hoping to find out what's wrong.
Based on the time the first tips started coming in, some customers have been without power since at least 7 p.m. eastern time.
According to one news tip from Whitney in Milton County, a recorded message reached when dialing Shelby Energy in Shelby County stated the service interruption is due to a transmission failure at the Campbellsburg, Bedford and Milton substations.
A spokeswoman with Shelby Energy confirmed transmission line failure in eastern Kentucky. She says crews were working to re-route power, and hoped to have everyone's power restored by midnight.
