LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Considered the Derby Festival's founding event, the Pegasus Parade has been a Derby tradition since 1956. An estimated 235,000 people attended last year's parade. If you can't make it in person, you can catch all the action live right here.
The parade kicks off at 5 p.m., heading west on Broadway starting at Campbell, and we'll have live, non-stop TV and streaming web coverage beginning at 5:30 right here on
The parade theme is "Heroic Adventures," tying into the festival's "SuperFest" theme, celebrating television, movie and comic book superheroes as well as heroic individuals in the community.
The festival announced the parade is being dedicated to the memory of Judy Barcus, a longtime festival supporter who entertained thousands as Ju-Ju the Clown.
