BARDSTOWN, KY (WAVE) - Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear along with officials with Barton Brands of Kentucky took part in a grand opening ceremony to open its visitor center Tuesday May, 10th. The Visitor Center is 1,000 square foot facility that contains the branded "1792 Distillery" merchandise and a tasting bar.
This center will allow those taking tours of The Barton Distillery a chance to learn about Bourbon and all that goes into the making.
"I congratulate Mark Brown and the others at Sazerac, the parent company for Barton Brands of Kentucky for their success in the midst of a difficult economy, and I want to thank them for their confidence in the Bluegrass State," said Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear.
"We are proud to say that we have, despite the challenging economic environment, significantly increased our investment in the Distillery, hired additional staffing and committed to keeping this vital industry alive in this part of the state," said Mark Brown, President and CEO for Sazerac.
Currently the facility employs nearly 200 people and is responsible for an economic impact of $7.2 million to Nelson County. The new Visitor Center is projected to bring in 10,000 tourists to the region its first year according to a release sent out by the company.
