LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Belle of Louisville made its return cruise on May 11, after weeks of high water levels prevented it from leaving the dock.
The passengers, a group of kids out for a field trip, boarded the steamboat around 10 a.m and shoved off just half an hour later.
The Belle had remained in dock for nearly a month due to unusually strong rainfall the area received in April.
"Today is a huge day," said Belle of Louisville CEO Linda Harris. "It's not only going after flooding, we haven't gone out since last October before the boat went into dry dock, so this is rather a maiden voyage for her."
The Belle officials say they estimate they lost around $100,000 while the boat was out of service.
