LOUISVILLE, KY - (WAVE) With all of our recent flooding, standing water is expected to make for a big mosquito population, and that means more concerns for West Nile virus.
Now Kentucky agriculture officials are encouraging residents to vaccinate their horses.
Historically, West Nile virus begins showing up in Kentucky horses in July.
Back in 2002, more than a 100 horses died from the virus and more than 500 contracted West Nile.
