LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Police have issued a warrant for the man they believe was involved in a May 13 shooting that killed a 3-year-old boy.
Davion Powell died on Monday, May 16, at Kosair Children's Hospital, three days after he was shot in the head inside the 550 apartments on south Eighth Street.
Police are now looking for 21-year-old Roderick Moss in connection with Powell's shooting, and are asking for the public's help to find him.
"We'd like to get him off the streets as quickly as possible," said LMPD Lt. Barry Wilkerson. Wilkerson added that an ongoing dispute may have lead to the shooting.
According to police, Moss could still be in the area. Powell's mother told us she was visiting family Friday night.
Lt. Wilkerson said a combination of community involvement and detective work led them to Moss. Residents at the 550 apartments tell WAVE 3 that they don't believe Moss lived at the apartment complex.
According to court documents Moss does have some criminal history including assault, drug charge, and domestic violence.
Powell's mother told WAVE she is planning her son's funeral for Saturday at the New Zion Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m.
Anyone with information on Moss's whereabouts is asked to call the anonymous crime tipline at 502-574-LMPD (574-5673).
