ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (WAVE) - Eight months after the crime, a grand jury has indicted a Hardin County man for the murder of his parents.
Erik Buggeland was indicted this week on two counts of murder, robbery and theft by unlawful taking. Police say Buggeland, 36, beat his parents Terje and Margaret Buggeland to death in their Elizabethtown home in September.
Erik had lived with his parents, and was arrested in Tennessee eight days after the discovery of their bodies. He has been described as a 'diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic' by State Police, and a mental evaluation was ordered by the court.
Erik is currently being held on a $2 million bond, and is due back in court Tuesday.
