Man dies after near drowning

HARRISON COUNTY, IN (WAVE) - A southern Indiana man has died nearly a week after a near drowning in Harrison County.

A spokeswoman from University Hospital tell WAVE 3 Evan Alexander died Sunday evening.

Indiana Conservation officers say Alexander and Bradley Miller fell into a dam near the wastewater treatment plant in Corydon Tuesday evening, May 24.

A third person, 19-year old Braden Richie, helped the other two teens out of the water.  The dam behind the YMCA is a popular hangout for teens, but is private property.  It is possible the teens were trespassing.

Alexander had been in critical condition since the incident.  Miller was treated and released from the hospital last week.

Evan's family released a statement,  "We want everyone to know how much Evan will be missed and how much he was loved, In lieu of flowers or cards we ask that people donate to the Evan Alexander Fund set up at First Harrison Bank locations for funeral expenses."

The coroner's office hasn't yet released the cause of death.
