Sheriffs investigate elderly couple's death as double homicide

FLORENCE, KY (WXIX/WAVE) - The death of an elderly couple in Florence is now being investigated as a double homicide.

Boone County Sheriff's deputies were called to the home after a family member went to check on the couple because they didn't show up for church and found them dead.

William, whom friends called Bill, and Peggy Stephenson, both 74-years-old were last heard from on Friday.

Sheriff's investigators are not speculating how the couple died but are investigating the scene completely to ensure nothing is overlooked.

No other information concerning the case is being released at this point.

Bill was a deacon at Union Baptist Church and his wife an organist for the congregation. Bill was known in the community for his work with the Trucker's Chapel ministry at a truck stop on Route 18 just off Highway 75.
