LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Police have issued a warning to be on the lookout for a new phone scam.
The scam involves automated calls where the resident is told their debit card was canceled, and in order to receive a new one an account number is needed.
Police say if you receive a call like this hang up immediately, and do not give your information over the phone.
If you do give out personal information police say it is best to cancel your bank cards immediately to avoid any unwanted charges or identity theft.
If money is taken from your account then a police report should be filed with the local department.
