LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Genny's Diner on Frankfort Avenue is officially history. Demolition of the former home of the frickled pickle was completed June 3. The Clifton diner was known for the huge neon pickle on the roof and the fried ones they served inside.
The restaurant has been embroiled in controversy for years because of a historic building on the property. Former owner Frank Faris wanted to tear it down but the Metro Historic Landmarks and Preservation Commission wouldn't approve it. After years of court battles, a judge ordered Faris to sell the property.
The new owners are renovating the historic building to open a Comfy Cow ice cream shop. The diner was taken down to build a parking lot.
