LOUISVILLE, KY (AP) - Construction has begun on a portion of a mammoth park development in eastern Louisville.
The Parklands of Floyd's Fork will be among the nation's largest park developments when it is finished.
Officials gathered last week as construction started on a 616-acre portion of the park along Beckley Creek.
Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer told The Courier-Journal it "will shape our city and state like we've never been shaped before." The project will be funded by combination of federal, state and local governments in addition to private donations.
