FRANKFORT, KY (AP) - A judge in Frankfort has given the commonwealth control of a troubled eastern Kentucky rest home where a resident wandered away and was later found frozen to death.
Letcher County Circuit court Judge Samuel Wright granted a temporary restraining order on Thursday and appointed a receiver for the Golden Years Rest Home, according to reports in the Lexington Herald-Leader and The Courier-Journal.
The court noted in granting the order that the home was unable to account for a large amount of residents' personal funds and noted the operation of Golden Years is hazardous to the safety of its residents.
The court order came in response to a lawsuit filed Thursday against the home by Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway. A hearing was scheduled for June 23.
