THOMPKINSVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Trooper Daniel Stephens is investigating a collision that happened at 9:25 p.m. Saturday on Kentucky 63, seven miles north of Tompkinsville that left one person dead.
James Elmore, 44 of Glasgow, was driving a 2001 Chevy Tahoe northbound on KY 63 when he lost control of the vehicle and struck two trees. He was transported to TJ Sampson Community Hospital in Glasgow and later to University Hospital. A passenger, Angela Ervin, 35, of Edmonton was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt.
Alcohol and drugs are believed to be a factor and charges are pending. Trooper Stephens was assisted at the scene by Sgt. Jeremy Johnson, Monroe County Sheriff's Department, Fire, Rescue and EMS.
