LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Jefferson County jury has found Nicholas Salfi guilty of murder in the death of his former girlfriend, Kelly Doyle. He was also found guilty on an assault charge, but acquitted of tampering with evidence.
Doyle was choked, beaten and stabbed more than 60 times in her home on Cain Lane in east Louisville on January 2, 2010.
The assault conviction against Salfi comes because he was accused of trying to kill Doyle's new boyfriend, Payton Thomas, who was beaten and stabbed in the back. Police say Salfi chased him to a neighbor's house where Thomas called police.
