BLOOMINGTON, IN (AP) - Police searching for a missing Indiana University student say investigators have received nearly 1,000 tips from the public about what might have happened to the young woman.
Bloomington police Capt. Joe Qualters said Tuesday that about 350 of those tips were collected through a new system set up Saturday with FBI assistance before "America's Most Wanted" aired a segment on Lauren Spierer's disappearance.
The 20-year-old from Greenburgh, N.Y., was last seen early June 3 walking toward her apartment after a night of drinking with friends.
Qualters did not say how many of the tips investigators consider legitimate or promising. He has said previously that they are trying to keep an open mind in the investigation.
