LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A trial date has been set for the man accused of killing Leshawn Talbert - known as "Shugga Shizz" or "The Shizz."

Kenneth Brown is accused of shooting Talbert during a during a drug deal in Okolona on Aug. 18,  2010.

Defense attorneys say Brown shot Talbert in self defense, and Talbert wrote our station to say he was in the process of being robbed by Talbert when he opened fire.

"It's still a robbery if you rob a drug dealer for drugs," Brown wrote.

Talbert was known and loved by many people in the community as "the Shizz." He started a dance craze that inspired the dance of University of Kentucky basketball star John Wall.

Detectives say Brown was on parole from Mississippi and has twice violated that parole.

Brown's trial date was set for June 28.
