LOUISVILLE (WAVE) - Louisville Metro Police are trying to piece together what led to a deadly shooting in Old Louisville late Sunday.
Officers responded to the call of shots fired in the 1200 block of Brook street, near where it intersects with Oak Street, around 11:45pm. When they arrived, cops found a man dead with several gunshot wounds.
"At this point we have one victim," LMPD Spokesperson Carey Klain told WAVE3. "It is a male, possibly in his 30s, maybe 20s - late 20s early 30s, with multiple gunshot wounds."
Police blocked off the area and called out the K9 and Air Units to try and gather as much information as possible in the dark of the night.
"We're in the area just trying to get all that we can at this point, and welcome any tips," Klain said. "And again the tip line in anonymous, people don't have to give their name or information when they call."
The victim was not immediately identified.
"We'll have to wait for the coroner to try and determine, get the identification and release that - if he does get that - but at this point there is no identification on the male," said Klain.
Investigators hope tips will start coming into the department's anonymous tipline to help them find the shooter.
If you know anything about this shooting, you're asked to call the LMPD tipline: (502) 574-LMPD.
