NEW ALBANY, IN (WAVE) - Police in Floyd County, IN say they have made two arrests in a drug smuggling ring stretching from Detroit to Louisville.
According to the Floyd County Sheriff's Office, it started with a traffic stop early on June 28. A Michigan driver was heading to a home in Floyd County when he was stopped. Investigators say they found a hidden compartment in the vehicle containing 500 Opana pills and 250 Xanax pills.
Floyd County Sheriff Darrell Mills said they seized nearly $300,000 worth of pill. Investigators say the bust is part of a drug ring which has been funneling pills from Michigan to southern Indiana for distribution across the Louisville Metro area.
Police arrested two suspects in connection to the drug ring, Joseph Peay and Raphael Ray. Two other men in the vehicle were arrested on drug possession charges.
Mills said the investigation is still ongoing and more arrests could be made.
