Coroner identifies man from standoff

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The coroner has released the name of the man who shot himself after a seven hour standoff.

The coroner says 36-year-old Jason Carnahan died from a gun shot wound to the head.

Louisville Metro Police spent seven hours in the standoff at a residence near Upper Hunters Trace.  Police entered the home just after 9 p.m. and found Carnahan dead inside with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police got the call around 2 p.m. from a woman concerned about the welfare of her boyfriend. When they arrived, police heard a gun shot and tried to get the woman out of the area.

When they were outside talking to that woman, police say they heard three more shots.

The SWAT Team, LMPD's Bomb Squad, and a hostage negotiation team were on the scene. One officer hurt his leg, but not from a shot.
