INDIANAPOLIS (WISH/CNN) - People gathered outside a Central Indiana home over the weekend to mourn the death of a six-year-old child.
Andrew Frye died Thursday at a hospital. He was found at his Morgan County home with a gunshot wound to the head.
Police said he was shot while he was home alone with his 11-year-old stepbrother.
That boy is now behind bars charged with murder and criminal recklessness. Family members are stunned by what happened.
"They got along just fine; all normal, nothing out of the ordinary to suggest that anything would happen," said Karri Vandagrifft, an aunt of one of the boys. "I was crushed. I cried all night. My kids didn't know what was going on. It's hard."
Prosecutors said authorities don't believe the shooting was completely an accident.
They said the boy could be charged as an adult, and the parents of the children could face charges as well.
