LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Louisville Metro Police are trying to determine exactly what led to an accident on Westport Road near the Gene Snyder Monday night that sent an officer to the hospital late Monday.
According to LMPD spokeswoman Officer Carey Klain, around 9:50 p.m. on July 4, an LMPD 8th Division officer was responding to a call for help when he was struck by an SUV that may have gone through the intersection of Westport Road at the Gene Snyder.
Klain says the officer was not running with lights and sirens, but was responding to a call when the accident occurred.
Police say that the officer was coming off of the Gene Snyder and onto eastbound Westport Road when the collision took place.
Anchorage EMS along with Middletown Fire responded to the accident. The officer was taken to Norton's Hospital Brownsboro to be checked out. The other driver was not injured.
The LMPD Traffic Unit is investigating this accident. No charges have been filed.
